Happy sunshining day!! I am originally from Worthington, MN and received my BS degree in Health and Physical Education from SDSU, Brookings SD. I taught part-time at John Ireland School in St. Peter and with the birth of my first child quit teaching. I stayed home with my four kids for 13 years and then went back and started substitute teaching for 4 years. I have also coached in various capacities for the past 27+ years working with both boys and girls and multiple sports. This is my 5th year back in my own classroom and I am looking forward to teaching your child and watching their growth throughout the year.
We will focus much of our time and attention on the basic locomotor and manipulative movements setting up a solid foundation of fundamentals. We will use a variety of individual activities as well as partner and team games to practice our skills. We have a "word of the month" which focuses more on the social aspect of PE. Things like integrity, grit, sportsmanship are character traits we discuss often.
Sunshine and fresh air are beneficial for all students so we will have class outside as much as possible - maybe even a couple times this winter! You can help your child by encouraging them to be active; to play, to move, to do. And it's always beneficial to play and move with your child. Follow their lead and just play.
