About NJHS
National Junior Honor Society is a service group open to students in grades 7 - 9 with a minimum of a 3.6 average GPA calculated from Quarter 1,2, & 3 for the current year. Students must complete a minimum of 10 social service hours each year and 2 of these hours must be completed by helping with an NJHS group activity if they are a renewing member.  New members need 10 hours but do not need any of those to be NJHS sponsored activities. This is open each year to students and current members must reapply if they are eligible.
NJHS History
When the National Junior Honor Society was founded in 1929, the hope of the founders was to create an organization that would recognize and encourage academic achievement while developing other characteristics essential to citizens in a democracy. These ideals of scholarship, character, service, leadership and citizenship remain as relevant today as they were in 1929. Now, over 80 years later, the National Junior Honor Society has established a reputation for excellence among administrators, faculty members, students, parents and residents of the school community. This reputation is the result of years of commitment on the part of everyone involved. Through National Junior Honor Society service activities, members maintain and extend the qualities that won them selection. Membership is thus both an honor and a commitment.
