Mrs. Abby Turgeon
Hello! I am Mrs. Turgeon and I teach 6th-grade reading and Language Arts at Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial Secondary school.
I was born and raised in a small town, called Waunakee, WI. I grew up out in the country and enjoyed playing outside, pretending, writing, and drawing. I was a very curious child and I had a big imagination. I was certain that I would become a professional roller-skater or a rock star. In high school, I played almost every sport, but sadly I do not possess much natural athletic talent. I loved performing in plays and I was a percussionist in the band. During my senior year, I had an opportunity to teach and work with elementary school children. That experience led me down the path to becoming a teacher. I knew immediately that there was nothing better than building a connection with a student and helping him or her grow and push through a challenge.
I went to the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse, and graduated with my bachelor's degree in 1-9 education in 2005. That year I took my first teaching job in an elementary school and I taught fifth grade in Onalaska, WI for 12 years. I later received my master's degree from the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse in continuing education. I love what I do and I feel very blessed to continue my career here at LCWM.
I am thrilled to be teaching Language Arts because creative writing and reading were so vital to my identity as a child. In my spare time, I enjoy relaxing with my family, playing with my dogs, and cheering for the Twins, Packers, and Badgers. Working out, Crafting, sewing, and watching my kids´ sporting activities are some of my favorite things to do. I love to laugh, tell jokes, eat good food and be with my friends.
